AMOROUS POETRY– SONATINA DEL AIRE Y DEL VIENTO

POETRY-MUSIC RECITAL

Poems by Luciano González Sarmiento
Music of Liszt, Albéniz, Debussy, Granados and E. Halffter

MANUEL GALIANA, reciter – MARISA BLANES, piano

“The word, expressive element, threshold of creation, the word explains and orders chaos, verifies reality, transforming it playing with and conjugating the poetic synthesis. Word “without master”, patrimony of freedom used by humans as support to describe in verse the emotion life produces for one” – in the words of the preface by the author of these poetic texts proposed here as motive for a recital of poetry and music.

The works of the great composers offered become incidental in constructing with poetry the dramaturgy of an amorous discourse through the voice of MANUEL GALIANA, one of the greatest Spanish stage actors, and the ever-suggestive piano of MARISA BLANES.

Melologues in honour of Santa Teresa de Jesús

How is one to read a fifteenth century Christian mystic today? And how on the other hand does one do that from an agnostic posture? This question, posed by the poet Olvido García Valdés in his book dedicated to the Saint from Ávila, today receives musical response with this document, prepared by six composers from Spain and the Americas.

Original texts by Saint Teresa provide the base for the creation of six melologues for reciter and piano, composed in her honour by 4 Spanish composers: CARLOS CRUZ DE CASTRO, TOMÁS MARCO, FRANCISCO NOVEL SÁMANO and JOSÉ LUIS TURINA, joined by 2 composers from the Americas, the Venezuelan ALFREDO RUGELES and the Mexican EDUARDO SOTO MILLÁN.

Actor MANUEL GALIANA and pianist MARISA BLANES are the performers in an interpretation which is as lively as it is moving.
